Sila, Panna, Samadhi

Is meditation worth it?

In my opinion, it is - absolutely.

As someone once said to me: “your practice will bear fruit, never give up.”

As the journey unfolds, you might notice the strengthened ability to observe your thoughts rather than getting lost in them. This in itself can be life changing, as you clearly see that you are not the narration in your head, or the beliefs you might hold.

As your sits become longer, you might gain access to samadhi or the jhanas (states of absorption)… Not all sits are easy, but they definitely become more so with consistent practice. It’s a bit like the compounding of stocks and shares - the more you practice the more you (should) reap the rewards, slowly deconstructing the sense of self along the way.

It’s a rewarding path that often requires a change in lifestyle to make it a consistent daily habit. The mind needs training, and one ought to create the best grounds for that training to take place.
